Counseling

About Heather Robinson

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I provide counseling to adults, children, individuals, families and couples, but I like to think of my work as simply, “Shining a light into your life.” In my practice, I draw on over 3000 hours of counseling with individuals (adults, adolescents and children), couples and families to serve those in need of help with depression, anxiety, childhood abuse and neglect, grief and loss, and relationship issues.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. After receiving my degrees, I spent two years counseling individuals and families to achieve my title as Clinical Social Worker and have been providing counseling services throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area since 2004.

My experience includes over 13 years with Child Protective Services at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services working throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area, where I assumed a supervisory role in 1999. In 2008, I was promoted to Program Director, a position that involved intensive in-home services for families experiencing extreme abuse and neglect. In this hands-on role, I worked directly with parents, children and families in need and also provided mentoring and guidance to my staff.

An adjunct professor for Texas Christian University since 2004, I teach classes on child welfare, human behavior, mental health and family dynamics.
